Ergonomic design to break records attempts
In today’s time, we are extremely fortunate to witness super athletes in their prime of their careers, breaking record after record. Prediction states that every very nine years there may be a chance of someone breaking Bolts 100m record.
Which means that there might be someone breaking his record soon as next year.
In the quest of conquering records, the 2 hours marathon time is still unbroken and Nike was up to the challenge. The Zoom Vaporfly Elite was created by Nike in an attempt to break the odds, with the help of modern technological advances and human passion, the question is will it succeed? These shoes were created individually for each runner, made to fit the preferences of each runner and designed ergonomically for maximum performance.
The shoe sole consisted out of their ZoomX material, which Nike claims to be extremely light and more responsive to the runner. The height of the shoe heel is 9mm higher than the foot height which meant it pivoted the angle of the runner greatly. The one innovation that stood out was that the ZoomX midsole contained a carbon fiber plate, this plate is specifically designed to reduce the energy loss of each step.
The plate’s stiffness determined the overall performance output. If this plate was too stiff, the workload would have been shifted from the foot to the calf resulting in fatigue over time, but Nike’s had a solution to curve each plate that would benefit with the geometry of the shoe resulting in better performance.
The shoe was designed to act like a track shoe, directing power with minimum loss and put on the feet of the legendary world best runners Tadese, Kipchoge, and Desisa.
